Steering Committee
The Environmental Justice and Infrastructure Initiative (EJII) Steering Committee will focus on building a statewide community to advocate for the equitable delivery of energy, broadband, and water infrastructure for all Wisconsinites. The committee will strive to ensure that investments target and serve historically underserved communities and those disproportionately impacted by systemic racism.
The steering Committee will be responsible for providing strategic direction and guidance for the EJII projects. The EJII steering committee will administer, and coordinate daily project activities, manage contracts including those for consultants and contractors, convene the steering committee, and liaise with other government and non-government agencies development partners.
EJII projects will prioritize data-driven planning, funding and grantee management, and community building as a means of ensuring equitable access to infrastructure throughout the State. Some of the specific areas which will be targeted by the EJII Steering Committee include affordable housing, decarbonization and green finance initiatives.
The committee will work to ensure that quality affordable housing opportunities are accessible for all members of the community. The committee will also focus on decarbonizing residential energy sources, transportation and industrial processes in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Most importantly, the committee will seek out green finance initiatives which can help fund environmentally friendly projects that prioritize equitable access to infrastructure investments.
The EJII Steering Committee will strive to ensure that the investments and resources are concentrated in those communities which need it most, so that everyone can benefit from the long-term effects of affordable housing, decarbonization and green finance initiatives. With these goals in mind, the committee is committed to building a statewide body of advocates and stakeholders for equitable environmental justice infrastructure.
